Years ago a dear friend of mine started a tradition of posting one thing she is grateful for each day in November. It is such a great idea that she has inspired many of her friends to follow suit.
Some post on social media, some create a tree and hand them daily, some have a gratitude jar that they put a slip in each day. No matter what the method, we all focus on what we are thankful for each day.
I have participated in the month of gratitude for a few years now and it has made such an impact on my life, I wanted to share it with all of you as well.
People who practice gratitude are shown to be happier.
It makes sense.
If you are thinking about all the things that are going wrong, you are going to be in a bad mood, but if you focus on the good things that you have in your life, they are sure to bring a smile to you face.
So many of us are constantly surrounded by negativity, in the news, in commercials, in our families, in our communities. The list goes on and on, and if we don't have any way to combat that negativity, life can be rather depressing. With the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, and all the extra stressors that season brings, it is such a good practice to take a few moments each day to reflect on your day and find the moments to be grateful for to bring the positivity to the forefront.
This month I invite you to join me in this practice of gratitude. Whether you post them for the world to see, or keep them in a jar to reflect on later, I invite you to take some time each day to bring to mind the things you are grateful for.
