Tea Tuesday: Cranberry Orange

Tea Tuesday: Cranberry Orange

Marissa AgustinMarch 21, 2017

This week we are diving deeper into Cranberry Orange.

Technically since this doesn't have any tea leaves in the blend it is considered a tisane, which is really just a fancy name for a brewed beverage without tea leaves.  Now you can impress your friends with your awesome tea knowledge next time they as for an herbal tea!

All tisanes are naturally caffeine free since they don't have tea leaves in them so this category is ideal if you are looking for a beverage that is full of flavor, but won't keep you up all night!

This is a blend that starts with tart cranberry apple. I love the cranberry apple, but it can get overly tart for some people, and I find I have to be in the right mood for it.  I wanted to find a way to make it less tart without adding anything that would be too sweet.

I don't know about you, but growing up, my mom always added orange juice and zest to the cranberry sauce when she made them for the holidays, so orange just goes together with cranberry in my mind.

Just like the cranberry sauce mom made, the addition of the orange to the cranberry creates the perfect balance of tart and sweet.  It is a perfect choice when you want to reach for something sweet at the end of the day.  And as it warms up (spring has to show up sometime right?) it will also make a delicious and refreshing iced tea.
